About the project:

The issue/challenges: Other than resistance by farmers a lobby of Arcae nut farm owners (cash crop) were bankrolling the opposition. State went through elections during this period limiting open and upfront PR activation; Sensitive handling of communication and visibility around critical Court hearings.

Strategy: Ringfence negative influence locally while Driving positive agenda at state level; Messaging in micro platforms and influencer groups; expose myths using local institutions

Interventions - achievements: Micro messaging in each district and sub division; FAQ booklets in English and Kannada; trojan influencers; Gastee volunteers; Media positivity

Result: negligible visibility for negative stories during this period; advance information and handholding violent situations in public meetings; isolation and indirect channels with interested landowners; supporting environment for Administration to act and support project activity


Key Achievements

  • 75 hyper local media (online/Facebook/print/TV managed)

  • 25 meetings with land owners and groups attended

  • 25 positive stories generated in CAT A media

  • Editorial connects (11) in State and individual districts ensured NO free ride for anti project stories

  • Supported with dealing with heated public meeting situations

  • After no progress for nearly a decade the project has completed 25% of pilings and towers.

  • 70 whatsapp groups Engaged
